"Thabo" by Black La Bel

"I guess, as children and youth, we never really understand the treasures God give. Thabo and I grew up in the town called, Sterkspruit (South Africa), near the Lesotho border. His dad worked on our farm. Thabo and his family lived on our farm, as did his grandparents before them. Thabo and I did everything together as children. We were earmarked to take over the farm and the family business one day. Yet, Thabo and I were both gifted academically, and we enrolled to study in different parts of the world. We eventually settled there: Thabo in the USA and I in the UK. For my wedding, we made the big trek back home. Thabo was already married at the time and had a lovely family.
