"The clowns appeared out of nowhere. One pointed a gun at Laura and shot her in the face. Her blood hit the side of my face. I was paralyzed with fear. 'Run!' the voice in my head urged, among the screams and the agony and the horror playing out in front of me. I ran and dived into a nearby hedge and landed on top of him. I was sobbing and frightened. He held my tight as the bullets kept hailing and the screams and anguish persisted. His trembling voice assured me that we would be okay. I believed him.
